Chapel off Chapel, 12 Little Chapel Street, Prahran
21 September - 1 October 2018
Michael Ralph in association with Hucklebuck Productions and Melbourne Fringe are pleased to present the world premiere of Michael Ralph’s ground-breaking dance theatre production SELF.
SELF is a thought-provoking journey into the psyche of an Artist and the human condition, expressed through choreography and original music composed exclusively for this new dance theatre production. As artists in this fast-paced and modern world, we lose ourselves in our work and life and can often struggle to cope with the pressures and expectations involved. SELF explores this through one man’s journey to find his true self.
SELF stars Rohan Browne (Singin’ in the Rain, Strictly Ballroom) in the lead role of “The Artist,” supported by an ensemble of six phenomenal dancers and a 7-piece orchestra playing Earle’s original “modern jazz-inspired” score.
A portion of ticket sales will be donated to performing arts mental health organisation Entertainment Assist.
Beneath the Skin
Sundry Project Space, 49 Argyle Street Fitzroy
ENCORE PERFORMANCE: Friday 17 March 2017, 8pm
Mental health is a tough issue to speak up about. It's personal, it's frustrating and often, it's hidden. We want to break that stigma that makes people feel like they have to keep it that way.
Presented by Boutique Theatre, Beneath the Skin is a one night only performance utilising imagery, songs, monologues and spoken word poetry to create a space where an awareness and understanding for performers who suffer from anxiety and depression can be created. Beneath the Skin presents the issues in a manner that is easy to understand and access. We look at the ugly sides of mental illness but also shine light and collectively build hope.
We will be raising awareness for a fantastic organisation called Entertainment Assist, a health promotion charity that raises awareness about mental health in the Australian entertainment industry.
